OOTD: Shades of Navy

I've worn this outfit so many times (thanks for the life inspo, Lizzie McGuire!) that one of my friends at work and I have actually matched our denim-on-denim looks TWICE in the last four months. Recently, I switched it up by doing this half-tuck thing and adding a blazer to the look. I thoroughly believe that a blazer and jeans make for the best business casual outfit.

Do Denim

In the past, I haven't exactly appreciated denim. Recently, though, I discovered just how important denim is in a wardrobe. I'm currently adding some denim staples to my closet, and here's what I think the most important denim pieces to own are.

I'm an admittedly proud supporter of the Canadian tuxedo. The trick is either completely matching washes or making sure they're completely different, like this polka dot Canadian tuxedo.

I love overalls! They come in so many different variations, like these dark wash overalls. You can also style them similarly to how you would style regular jeans, like this black blazer look that would work perfectly well with pants. The overalls only add an awesome aspect to the outfit.

A casual shirt-style dress is perfect for warm spring days. Warmer days call for a short sleeved denim dress, while a light-wash chambray dress is perfect for cool summer evenings.

An easy way to do denim is by simply rolling it up: jeans and shirts alike.

Rock an oversized jacket the intended way or by simply throwing it over your shoulders.

What to Wear for Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year, but I have to admit, I love dressing for every holiday regardless of which one it is. Thanksgiving is especially fun to dress for because you're not trying to impress anyone but yourself, and maybe a couple relatives that don't exactly understand the direction you're life is going in. So, take this opportunity to dress up in your dream fall outfit and receive loving compliments from your parents (even if the outfit might not end up looking like a dream).

Fashionista Friday: So All About Chambray

This week, my CollegeFashionista post features an outfit I've already had on my blog. So, as an alternative, I'm sharing my 7 favorite ways to wear chambray: 1 way for each day of the week.

In all honesty, I thoroughly believe the Canadian tuxedo never died. Tuck your chambray shirt into a simple pair of dark wash jeans and roll up the sleeves and you've got the look down.

I'm all about faux fur in general, and pairing a faux fur jacket with a chambray is pure heaven to me.

To me, this epitomizes mixing soft and tough in fashion. Try a leather jacket or even a leather skirt with a chambray to make an awesome look.

Again, my one of favorite fads right now is leopard print. A leopard print blazer brings a chambray from chill to classy.

I love the look of a statement necklace tucked under the collar of a chambray!

Pair a chambray with a plaid scarf and master the "I just got out of class and am ready to take over the world" look.

Add another dimension to your look: try a chunky knit sweater over your chambray to make your outfit cool and casual.

Lock it Down

After binge-reading about New York Fashion Week on Friday night, I woke up the next morning excited to get dressed. Orange-red lips, braided hair, this lock necklace, and the chambray tucked into black dress shorts were not only present during NYFW 2014 but also made me look hot as all hell. I love this look because it looks awesome in this summer-fall transition period.

So all about that: wearing white

It's almost Labor Day, which marks the end of the summer season and the start of the dark, neutral tones of Fall. While I do like to follow the "no whites after Labor Day" rule, I do so with a number of exceptions. Many whites are on-limits in my opinion, with the exception of the examples on this list. Wear these whites in the next week while you still can; after that, confine the color to cable knit sweaters and basic t-shirts.
