OOTD: First Rocksbox

A couple weeks ago, I received an awesome email offering me a position as a Rocksbox It Girl. Basically what this means is that I get to use Rocksbox for a couple months and post about my experience with it. Fashionista Friday: Focus On Free People

I've always loved Free People. The clothes are fun, flowy, and spectacularly well-made. When Natasha showed up to take photos for my CollegeFashionista article on her, she happened to be wearing all Free People. Obviously I was inspired to peruse the Free People blog and website to gain some inspiration.

Everyone Deserves Their Perfect Prom

I was so lucky to have a perfect senior prom. I found my dress for $12 at a discount clothing store and I got to go with my best friends. Not to mention that's how my boyfriend and I started dating! However, I understand that not everyone isn't nearly as lucky as I was that year. While I can't make your crush ask you to prom, I can help by providing some prom style inspiration that often get overlooked in prom magazines or sites. After all: everyone deserves to have their perfect prom.

If you're uncomfortable in a dress (and not just because they often fit a bit tight), a jumpsuit is an awesome alternative. A formal jumpsuit is great because they can so easily be dressed up or down, so you can wear it long after prom is over!

I've never paid more than $20 for a school formal dress. It can be pretty tricky to find dresses at such a low price, but I promise, they're out there! S'Mohr Wedding

In lieu of Halloween, this weekend I went to my beautiful cousin's wedding to her high school sweetheart (so cute!). The ceremony was so touching and the reception was everything I love about hanging out with my family. We danced all night and were still able to rally in the morning for Family Hanukkah, where I got my super rad new onesie in the annual family game of Greed. It's never been a secret that my family has good genes, but our beauty was definitely on display at this event.

My Favorite Things 10/26

When I was going through really rough times in high school, I would do this thing where I would write down things I liked at the end of every day. It was similar to Oprah's Favorite Things, only intended for my eyes only instead of the masses of people who follow Oprah. As we wane into winter, I'm trying to find light everywhere I can. I'm hoping that, by making a list of things I have enjoyed this week, I'll find it easier to look forward to another week of being able to enjoy other things.

My first Favorite Things list accompanies this Instagram post. I can already tell it's going to be a long week– I have 2 midterms and a flight on Friday an hour after my final class of the day gets out.

1.  Liquid highlighters: As I mentioned, I have 2 midterms this week, so I've been doing quite a bit of studying. I like liquid highlighters as opposed to ink highlighters because they have a crisper and cleaner color.
2. Elastic headband: I'm so all about leopard print right now, but it's hard putting together an outfit that will still be comfortable after I've spent a couple hours in the same seat in the library. This headband adds a touch of cute while serving a critical function of keeping my hair out of my eyes while I'm hunched over a textbook.
3. Marc Jacobs sunglasses: Again with the leopard print! It's been raining off-and-on this last week, but it's always miserable being caught in a moment of sun without sunglasses. These have a nice yellow tint that make them easy to wear in both the rain and the sun.
4. Mini ear cuff: Another way to add some style to an otherwise lazy and uninspired outfit.
5. Mint Runa: I have an 8 am class twice a week, and getting out of bed is hard on those days. I like Runa because it's delicious and energizing but doesn't feel as heavy as coffee does. 
6. Maya Moon leather lanyard: I recently figured out how to clip my keys to Luxe's leash with this lanyard. It's cute and functional– a must right now.
7. Clinique lipliner: I'm on a life quest to make my lips look as amazing as Kylie Jenner's, and lip liner is a pretty essential tool in this journey. 
8. Sewing scissors: After the Project Runway season 13 finale last Thursday, I've suddenly been inspired to start sewing again. It's a great creative outlet without being too physically or emotionally taxing.

What's In My (Book) Bag

A couple months ago I did a post showing you all what I carry around with me in my bag. Nowadays, the only bag I carry around on a regular basis is my book bag. So, what do I bring to school with me that keeps me prepared for class and the general hectic-ness of the day?

1. An awesome Maya Moon keychain.
2. My handy-dandy to do list.
3. My favorite Melissa and Doug markers.
4. My prized Lilly Pulitzer agenda.
5. College-ruled notebooks.
6. Cough drops (every season is flu season in a dorm).
7. My cute and indistinguishable pill box.
8. A 100 pack of notecards.
9. A mini stapler.
10. My camera in its adorable little carrying case.
11. Highlighters (and lots of them).
12. My CollegeFashionista notebook.
13. Sticky notes.
14. "Purse snacks," usually a Luna Bar.
15. Lots and lots of blue pens.

Fashionista Friday: Pretty In Pink

Meet my fashion icon of the week: Nicole Antoinette Roberts. With a to-die-for job at kate spade, a flawless sense of style, and a beautiful wardrobe, it's surprising I haven't featured her on CollegeFashionista before! Luckily, I was able to do so this week in my most recent CollegeFashionista post.

I'm simply obsessed with this ballet slipper pink that Nicole rocks so effortlessly. I have a purse in a similar color but the structure and clean shape of Nicole's kate spade blows my purse out of the water! I've just put it on my birthday wish list (it's exactly a month away!), but I'm perfectly content to follow in Nicole's footsteps in find other ways to wear this color.

Dressing for the first day of school is always a hard task. After having spent three months away from your fellow classmates, you kind of want to show them what they were missing. Sure; maybe you spent those three months camped out on the couch in front of all 10 seasons of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, but your awesome outfit doesn't necessarily need to reflect that.

Somehow, I managed to wear an outfit entirely composed of pieces I'd owned since my freshman year. I'd like to think I made it look a little more mature and grown-up, but I'm not too sure. At least these new thigh highs made an interesting addition to the outfit!
