OOTD: Walls of Williamsburg

Even though I've lived in Brooklyn for four months, I haven't explored a lot of the borough. Sure, I've hung out in Bed-Stuy quite a bit, but I've rarely ventured outside of my beloved C train route. So, this last weekend, my friend Claire and I headed over to Williamsburg to see what the fuss was about.

Really quickly, can we talk about how it's literally MAY and I'm still wearing leggings and sweaters?? Frankly, I'd be disgusted if I hadn't already been sunburnt on the one nice day we've had in NYC this month.

This outfit is one of my go-to looks for work: a pair of leggings (these liquid leather leggings are so comfortable but still stylish af), my favorite XL collared tunic, and a sweater to top it all off. The look is business casual with an extra emphasis on the casual, and comfortable enough to wear when I'm feeling tired or sick.

OOTD: Golden Afternoon

Next stop on my Seattle Bucket List tour: Golden Gardens park. Sure, it's a little late in the season for a beach day, but I grew up on the Oregon coast and have spent most of my days at the beach in pants and a jacket. Hence, the leggings and long-sleeves. I've worn this outfit a number of times: it's exceptionally comfortable and makes it look like I put more effort into my look than I actually did. This dress is such a fantastic multi-purpose piece, and I've worn it everywhere from class to work to, now, the beach.

What to Wear: to the Airport

Of all the occasions I dress for, dressing to travel is one of the most difficult. Balancing style with comfort and practicality is a hard line to walk. Luckily, I've been flying since I was 13 days old, and have picked up a couple of tricks to doing so in the appropriate clothing.

Whoever said leggings can't be pants just didn't want you to be comfortable. Leggings are ideal to wear when traveling because they're the perfect layering item and are simply comfortable enough to spend an otherwise uncomfortable day in.

If you're traveling somewhere a little chillier, a scarf is a must-pack. Save room in your suitcase and give yourself a built-in pillow by wearing a scarf on the plane.

No one likes airport security. Make the process a little easier on yourself by wearing shoes that are easy to slip on and off. Just don't forget to pair them with socks: you definitely don't want to walk barefoot through the metal detector!

Layering is essential when traveling for two reasons. First of all, wearing as much as possible leaves that much more room in your suitcase. Second of all, layering will help you adjust to the temperature changes from one place to the next; especially if you're traveling somewhere cold or if you get chilly on airplanes.

This is essential when dressing comfortably to travel. Lightweight and loose-fitting clothes let you look cute without sitting in a seat for hours on end with your clothes digging into you.

Fashionista Friday: Class Act

Boots: Similar from JollyChic
Jeggings: Similar from True & Co.
Sweater: Similar from Forever 21
Jacket: H&M
Necklace: Similar from OASAP

My CollegeFashionista post for this week is still being uploaded, so in the meantime, check out some behind-the-scenes info from last week's post. I made Brendan take these pictures when he was here a couple weeks ago because I was absolutely enamored with the cute blue tables and chairs. I now walk past this spot every day on my way to pick up the dog I walk and still want to do photoshoots in this location. Any takers?
Don't forget to RAD my CollegeFashionista posts if you read them! It really helps with my perceived performance in my internship and it's a huge confidence booster for yours truly.

My Holiday Wishlist

Hanukkah starts on the 16th, which means it's coming up in less than a week! I love that Hanukkah transitions directly into Christmas, and New Years follows soon after. I love the holiday season. Have I mentioned that yet? Because I really love it!

I've always loved stationary products (I collect journals and get them every year for my birthday) and right now, I'm all about thank-you cards. It makes me feel like such a responsible adult writing and sending thank-you cards without being told to!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about the "pants that aren't actually pants" thing (check out the post in which I wore jeans for the first time since high school!)... Hence the jegging part of this addition to my wishlist. I've recently been super inspired to add some basic high-waisted skinny jeans to my wardrobe by The Fancy Pants Report, Style'd Avenue, and Carla T. on ModCloth.

Baby, it's cold outside... And my poor hands need a way to stay warm!

After my 8am this last quarter, I've discovered the benefits of bringing coffee with me to class... Only I don't have a travel mug at school with me which is exceptionally inconvenient.

What My Friends Want This Holiday Season

I'm just going to put this out there: I'm really good at gift giving. I know 'tis the season to be humble, but with talent like mine, not bragging takes some serious effort. Lucky for all of you, I'm planning on sharing some of my gifting secrets for my very first holiday season as a blogger. The first of these lessons comes to you in the form of my friends' holiday wish lists.

It can be hard buying gifts for your friends when you're totally broke (like most college students are). I personally have had to stop giving my friends holiday presents so I can focus my funds into birthday presents. However, I feel bad every year when the holidays come around and I want to give my dear friends all the wonderful things they want and deserve. So, here are some things my friends want and definitely deserve... With multiple price options. You're welcome!
