OOTD: Little House in the City

This outfit is big for me in a number of ways. First of all, I'm not known for wearing so many light colors in one look. Second of all, I'm wearing several very special items from some very special people in my life. I bought myself this Star of David nose ring after searching for one since I was sixteen. This necklace was a gift from a good friend of mine, and it contains dried wildflowers from the camp she worked at this summer. The belt was my grandma's– she was so petite that it only barely fits me when I wear it to cinch my waist. I love wearing items that not only look beautiful, but that remind me of the beautiful people I have in my life.

Spaces and Faces: Lauren

My little sister has one of the most unique and beautiful senses of style. Everything in her life is hand-picked with thought, which makes getting presents from her a real treat. Her room is the perfect demonstration of her style and holds everything she loves in it.

OOTD: Work of Art

I love going to the SAM, especially with my dad when he's in town. Not only are the instillations beautiful, but it's an excellent excuse for me to dress up a little.

#TattooTuesday with Conscious Ink Temporary Tattoos

At the beginning of the summer, I got some awesome Conscious Ink temporary tattoos. I've been trying them out periodically since I got them. I've tried temporary tattoos before, so I wasn't expecting to be nearly as inspired as I was by these particular tattoos. That said, I was very inspired, and I think it shows in my Instagram captions.

"A friendly reminder to myself and anyone who happens to see me, created by consciousink"
Ink: You are beautiful

"As much as I'm loving my chill summer in Seattle, it can be difficult to find the will to stay productive doing more than just the necessary day-to-day items on my to do list. This week's #tattootuesday reminds me that I have a sense of purpose beyond just existing; I am meant to thrive and do great things."
Ink: Purpose

"A fresh pedi & a new consciousink tat make for a happy#tattootuesday!"
Ink: Listen Listen

"Hell yeah I'm stoked! I have the rest of the week off to do art & go exploring, my sister is on her way to see me, and the weather is a manageable 75 F in Seattle right now ☀️ consciousink knows just how to help me wear my mood on my sleeve!"
Ink: Stoked

"My consciousink tattoo told me to 'be bold' so I took its advice and went for purple eyeshadow & orange lipstick. I love out-there makeup but don't always feel confident enough to wear it."
Ink: Be Bold

A wonderful woman at the library today inspired this ‪#‎TattooTuesday‬. After we discussed ‪#‎GirlPower‬ and how far the feminist movement had come since she was my age (and how far it still had to go), she paid me a great compliment that really made my day. She told me that she admired my patience and kindness as a tutor and that she wished she'd had someone like me to help her learn when she was a kid. It can be really hard to feel like our daily routine is actually worth something to the world, but this interaction reminded me that I am inherently powerful simply by doing what I do.
Ink: I am powerful

OOTD: Pink Faux Fur

Every now and then, I buy myself an item of clothing that doesn't go well with my otherwise all-black wardrobe. Take, for instance, this pink vest. Sure, I've paired it with black from time to time, but I really prefer to wear it with similarly light colors. That's where these jeans come in. I pair them with everything in my closet that doesn't go well with black.

OOTD: Brown and Black Layers

I've owned this dress since high school, and I still get just as much wear out of it as when I first bought it. I love how comfortable the jersey material is and how versatile the whole piece is. I wear it throughout the year, but my favorite time to wear it is in early autumn. I pair it with some classic autumn colors, like this tan vest or this olive bag.

Pantone 2016 Colors of the Year

In case you missed it, Pantone named two colors of the year for the first time in history. As someone whose favorite colors are blue and pink, I'm thrilled to see these colors take the fashion world by a storm! I've written about Pantone colors in the past, and was excited to compile some fabulous ways I've seen the 2016 colors of the year worn.

If you can't choose your favorite, why not wear them both?

2015 in Snapchat Pictures

Happy New Year! A quick, personal note: 2015 was one of the hardest years of my life. I'm not hoping for 2016 to be any different (after all, I don't have control over what life throws my way), but I am hoping that I'll be strong enough to handle whatever comes at me and learn from the tough stuff.

Since getting Snapchat, one of my favorite features has been the time-stamp filter. I love letting people know what I'm doing & when I'm doing it. It feels like I'm sharing a little sliver of my life with the people who want to know what I'm up to. So, over the last couple months, I've compiled some of my favorite time-stamped snaps to create a timeline of an average day in my life.
